Bulletproof

Nick Foles —

Shooting with Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles for Bulletproof was an experience I’ll never forget. I’d never been around an elite-level pro-football player before and so I didn’t know what to expect but from the moment we shook hands I was struck by the humility in his voice and manor. He’s ten years younger than me, but so wise in his approach to life. He opened his home and told us his honest story and we spoke to his family and he was so gracious and excited to work with us and he even made the entire crew Bulletproof coffees.

But then we put a football in his hand, and I saw a kind of transformation I didn’t know existed; the kind of transformation when a man can become a warrior in the blink of an eye. Nick Foles can do this.

We knew we needed a shot of him with a football and the sun was setting and my DP Kenny Bauer and I saw the back alleyway and immediately saw an opportunity to get an incredible shot. And so we put a football in his hand and the Nick Foles that so graciously hosted us just moments earlier stepped away and a fierce, high-performing athlete stepped forward. His entire gait and manor changed. Daniel Day Lewis would’ve been impressed.

Thank you Bulletproof and Nick Foles for the opportunity. And thank you for the incredible crew that made it all happen.

Erik Tsou —

I remember after the interview I had to go outside to calm down. I was so moved and inspired by Erik's share and I didn't know how to take it all in. In some ways, I'm still taking it all in. I ended up using his words in my reel because they were so inspirational, directly from his heart, unfettered or polished. Just raw emotions from a man who'd crossed the abyss of fear and came out the other side with an insight I'll cherish forever.
