Joseph Marconi is an American-Italian filmmaker obsessed with the intersection between hedonism and spirituality. After a decade in advertising, Joseph returned to filmmaking via nightlife photography in New York City. He founded his production company, Upperstate, in 2017. Joseph edited the documentary feature HARGROVE. He is a 2021 Film Independent Fellow (2021 Fast Track) and his feature film directorial debut, WILD ANIMAL, will go into production in 2022.

In 2017, Joseph founded Upperstate with the idea of telling the kind of stories that profoundly affected him alongside other talented filmmakers. The idea was never to stay safe or comfortable but to challenge themselves into the unknown, examining and facing their inner selves with an almost Buddhist-like approach, to not only grow alongside the changing climate and environment but to better know themselves within the ever-present noise.
